About the 9/11 NW Memorial

The 9/11 NW Memorial is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the memory of the 2,977 individuals who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Rooted in the Pacific Northwest, we serve as a regional anchor for remembrance, ensuring that our community never forgets the magnitude of that day or the extraordinary courage displayed in its aftermath.

Our memorial was founded by a group of Pacific Northwest residents — veterans, first responders, educators, and community leaders — who felt a deep responsibility to create a lasting physical and digital space for reflection. We believe that geographic distance from New York, Washington D.C., and Shanksville does not diminish our grief, our gratitude, or our obligation to remember.

The memorial is designed for everyone: families who lost loved ones, veterans who served in the years that followed, students learning about this pivotal moment in American history, and any person who wishes to pay their respects. We welcome visitors of all backgrounds and beliefs, united by a shared commitment to honoring those who were taken too soon and those who gave everything to help others survive.
